
Implementation of the TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) within all Pre-K-8 schools

Seven schools were first year TAP schools in 2008-09 and nine schools will be first-year TAP schools in 2009-10

By the 2010-2011 school year all RSD Pk-8 schools will have TAP structures in place

TAP Master teachers will coach instruction and support culture in smaller areas of the school

One Master teacher for every 8 to 12 core teachers

90 minutes of common teaming and preparation time each day for all teachers
Extended school day from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.:

Allows for more than 100 minutes of English Language Arts and Math each day

Allows for 90 minutes of common planning time each day for all teachers

More quality academic time for students will assist in closing the achievement gap

Allows more time to accommodate students academically behind (Tier II and Tier III)

Allows more time for electives and creative arts
Extended school year through the end of June for all students who have:

Scored an unsatisfactory or approaching basic on at least three of the four core areas on LEAP or iLEAP testing

Been absent more than 15 days during the school year

Scored a D or an F in three of the four core subject areas; scored an unsatisfactory or approaching basic on at least three of the four core areas on the end-of-year benchmark testing.
Awareness and push for positive morale and school culture for all students and staff

PBS (Positive Behavior Support) reward and consequence systems for students will be implemented within all schools

TAP-type reward / incentive system for teachers will be implemented within all Pk-8 schools by 2011
Site-Based Decision Making

Allow leadership teams and staff members to make many decision at the school level

The RSD Central Office will function as a monitoring, support and feedback center, not monitoring agency

Schools will have local school governing boards made up of community members and local supporters
